Succeed at postgraduate level
Studying successfully at postgraduate level at a British university requires many skills such as taking notes in lectures, contributing to seminars, reading critically. This course provides you with these and many other academic skills as well as English language tuition so that you can embark on your postgraduate studies with proficiency and confidence. Every 4 weeks you complete an academic assignment and meet with your personal tutor to monitor your progress. The course is structured to enable you to study for as long as you require to achieve IELTS 6.5.
Critical Analysis
In the final 8 weeks of the course the programme includes a Critical Analysis session to develop your critical thinking and research skills. You focus on the following areas:
Week 1: Introduction to critical analysis and research skills
Week 2: World Politics
Week 3: Business
Week 4: Arts
Week 5: Social Sciences
Week 6: Humanities (Geography/History)
Week 7: Environment
Week 8: Science
Entry requirements
To apply you must:
- Have a first degree or equivalent
- Have an intermediate level of English (equivalent to IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 153)
The Programme
Intensive 8 week programme with fixed start dates. If the student takes the 16 or 24 week programmes they will join the Pre-Foundation Programme class until the final 8 weeks.
25 hours per week to include:
- Academic skills training (5 hours)
- Critical analysis (5 hours)
- IELTS exam preparation (5 hours)
- Spoken academic performance (5 hours)
