What is PET?
PET tests all four language skills: reading, listening, writing and speaking. The PET certificate is a basic exam which leads to higher qualifications such as the First Certificate in English (FCE). PET gives you the confidence to use English in real situations and corresponds to Level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
What's included
Students following the PET Exam Preparation Course at Wycliffe College mirror the English Club Course Programme. There are 15 hours of tuition per week. From 9.30 - 11.00 per day students focus on the skills tested in Paper 1 (reading and writing) and from 11.30 - 13.00 the emphasis is on listening and speaking, which are assessed in Papers 2 and 3. During the afternoons, students join the daily
programme of supervised sports, leisure and evening activities. The course includes one full-day and one half-day excursion per week.
